Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to participate in our Pain Association of Singapore’s (PAS) Biennial Scientific Meeting (BSM) 2010. The theme this year – “Expressions of Pain” – brings together work that the PAS has done over the last three years. We carried out a nationwide survey to explore the different aspects of pain in our population and to understand how people cope with and manage chronic pain. The PAS also conducted two public forums where experts from the fields of neurology, surgery, rheumatology, psychiatry and pain medicine shared knowledge on various advances in pain medicine. Very encouraging data and information have emerged from these events and our work will lead up to our BSM 2010 where we bring together renowned international and local experts to help all of us “see pain in its form”.
Alongside this year’s theme, we will also put together the ever-popular interventional pain workshop. Experts in the field of interventional pain medicine will showcase the various minimally invasive interventions and allow participants hands-on practice on cadavers in a full day programme.
For our overseas delegates, I am also very excited to invite you to Singapore’s newly completed integrated resorts and exciting theme parks in our social events.
We trust that you will enjoy and learn as much as we do in organising this meeting.
Dr Yeo Sow Nam
President and Organising Chairman
